Koirala's appeal to disobey the political machinery in the state, district and municipality

Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has claimed that though the Congress is in the government, it is not in power. 'We (Nepali Congress) are in the government but not in power. The power is entirely in the hands of the UML," he said while inaugurating the district convention of the Nepal Tharu Sangh, which is close to the Congress on Saturday, at Danda in Kawasoti, East Nawalparasi. "That is why the agenda of the Congress has not been passed. Our friends in the cabinet have cooperated in power. But that should not be done now.'

He said that it would not be in the interest of the Congress to stay in power for a long time as it has to compete with the UML in the upcoming elections. "The people are disappointed with every activity done by the government," he said.

He said that the Congress should now be united that it should not cooperate with whoever is going to compete in the elections tomorrow.

Koirala also claimed that the work of making a political mechanism for running the country and power will never be democratic. He also appealed to the activists to disobey such a mechanism in the state, district and municipality saying that party people should not live in any mechanism.  'The government has not done a good job, why does it need a political mechanism?' He said, 'Congress' participation in the government is unfortunate.'

He criticized the government for giving immunity to the big corrupt and trying to make only the small employees guilty. What kind of government is this that cannot make a governor? Impunity is increasing. Based on a letter written by an officer of the Supreme Court, Resham Chaudhary was caught and released," he said. "Look, this is the best example of misrule."
