Odarchaur-Dhodeni road is convenient for farmers and tourists

A 7 km short road has been constructed to bring tourists from Baglung to Beni and tourists from Mustang to Baglung market via Beni. A road has been constructed from Baglung Municipality-4 from Odarchaur via Dhodeni to the lasti of the mountain. Preparations are also underway to pave this road by the end of next June.

This road will give tourists a short cut to go to Myagdi and Mustang. Also, it will be easier to send the farmers' produce to the market. 76-year-old Jiwanand Sapkota of Dhodeni, who traveled for an hour and a half to send vegetables to Baglung after this road was built, said that he was able to reach the headquarters in 20 minutes. He said that after the construction of this road, it helped to take the patients to the hospital on time.

Earlier, since there was no direct road to the market, the locals were forced to travel through Parbat's Lasti, Khaniaghat and Maldhunga. From treatment to administrative work of the municipality, they suffered. He couldn't even walk alone because it was a forest path. Even after growing vegetables, it was very difficult to bring them to the market.

Tek Bahadur Chhetri from Lasti in Parbat said that this road is also convenient for transporting milk daily. Every day he comes to Baglung market to sell milk with cans on his motorcycle. He said that when coming to Baglung Bazar via Maldhunga, he had to travel about 15 km.

Baglung Municipality is constructing a road connecting Odarchaur to Dhodeni and Ganesh Ghumti to Nirayaghat. After crossing the suspension bridge of Kaligandaki, one can easily reach the market from the road under construction. This road will shorten his daily one-way journey by 7 km. His time will also be saved by reducing the distance of 14 km per day by driving

. More than 100 farmers of Parbat's Lasti, Dhairing and Dhodeni of Baglung sell all the vegetables, fruits and milk grown in the Baglung market. This road has already started bringing a lot of improvement in their daily life. "If the road is built, it will benefit us a lot," said Chhetri, "it will be easy to come to Dhaulagiri hospital in case of illness."

This road has shortened the 7 km road from Beni to Baglung section. Chairman of Baglung Municipality-4 Kumar Bikram Chhetri said that this road will be useful to take tourists who have walked to Muktinath to Baglung Kalika, Shaligram Museum and Panchkot. A DPR has also been prepared to build a concrete bridge over Kaligandaki river from Maldhunga Beni road to Dhodeni in Baglung.

Bal Bahadur Majhi of Ward 1 said that after the construction of the road, it became easier to transport food grains. Because of the road, the house was covered with dust. Now the road has become level. Manoj Sharma, engineer of Ashish Fewa Joint Construction Company, said that all the work has been completed on the 12 km road from Baglung Municipality 1 Ganeshghumti to Nirayaghat, Ward 4 Odarchaur to Dhodeni and Baglung-7 Mulpani to Titaure.

Baglung municipality is constructing 8 and a half km road from Ward 7 Mulpani to Titaure, 2 and a half km from Odarchaur to Dhodeni and 1 and a half km from Ganeshghumti to Nirayaghat by the end of next June through the Urban Government and Infrastructure Development Program.

Mayor Basant Kumar Shrestha informed that Baglung municipality has constructed the road with the help of World Bank grant for 48 crores. Sharma claims that 64 percent of the road construction has been completed. "We have completed the structure work, we have also laid sub-bases in some places," Sharma said, "We aim to be able to complete the work within the specified time." He said that some time ago, while excavating construction materials for the road, the work was further reduced due to non-cooperation from the police and administration.

If these roads are built, the marketing of milk and vegetables produced by farmers in rural settlements will be easier. It will be easy to reach Nirayaghat and Dhodeni Ghat for cremation. When the Nirayaghat road becomes level, it will also become easier to transport materials to the old age home, under construction Manavseva Ashram.

All these three roads will be 6 to 8 meters wide. The World Bank has supported urban governance reform and infrastructure development programs in 17 municipalities across Nepal. Earlier, with the help of the World Bank, nearly 7 km of road from ward 4 to 6 of Baglung has been paved.

This road has helped in the construction of the circular road in the city. Basant Kumar Shrestha, the head of Baglung Municipality, said that the investment was made in roads No. 1, 2 and 3, which were prioritized by the Municipal Assembly. "We have worked for the benefit of the people, that's why initiatives have been taken to complete the work on time," said Shrestha, "If this road is completed on time, it will be easy to bring other projects."
