With the establishment of the industrial village, the women of Ambukhaireni rural municipality have come out of household work and become active in productive work.
By watching videos posted on YouTube and learning skills in the production of bamboo materials such as mudha and nanglo, they have started to become financially self-sufficient by using local resources. "Earlier I was limited to household work", says Gauri Gurung of Ambukhaireni Rural Municipality-3, Dhakaltar, "Now I am able to run the house and support my husband with the money I earn from making mudha". Now she is busy producing bamboo products commercially. Gurung, who took training in making toothpicks and chopsticks three months ago, also learned to make mudha by watching a video posted on YouTube.
'I was hoping that I would get a job somewhere after having some skills. After the rural municipality started the industrial village using local products near home, I now finish my housework and make various materials including mudha in the afternoon, she said, "The industrial village has given us employment, but due to the breakdown of the machines installed here, it has become very difficult to prepare the necessary materials from bamboo." She says, "Before, there was no work to pass the time. Now, I have managed to earn about 40,000 rupees in 3 months by making mudha. Nepali says that after getting a job in the
industrial village, she has also gained courage. "Earlier, time was spent on housework. It was also a problem to meet the expenses for myself", she said, "Now self-strength has increased. It has become a good way of earning income by coming to the industrial village after finishing the housework.' Currently, 12 people are employed in making bamboo products and 4 people are employed in making iron products.
60-year-old Sanumaya Bhujel says that the market for such products has become a matter of concern. "Currently, the demand for the bamboo material that we make comes only from within our municipality", she said, "If there is a system to send the material produced here to market areas outside the municipality, the income would also be good and many people would also get employment." The production of bamboo and iron materials has started from the industrial village of Ambukhaireni rural municipality of Tanahun, which has been operating according to the said policy of the government. In an area of about 90 plantations, 2 towers are constructed and materials such as sofa sets, swings, dining sets, mudha, nanglo and iron exercise materials, wheelbarrows, pings, agricultural implements, deckbenches and other materials are also produced from bamboo.
Bimalbabu Rana, mechanical engineer of the industrial village, said that the aim is to produce using local resources and tools and to help in economic empowerment by creating employment opportunities in the village. "The physical structure is not enough to run the industry in an orderly manner," he said. Therefore, discussions are being held to move forward with the plan of public partnership.
Similarly, Shukar Chuman, chairman of the rural municipality, said that the production of bamboo and iron materials has been started using local manpower, skills, resources and modern equipment. "Using the resources and skills available in the village, the production of materials as per the demand has been started through modern equipment", he said, "Our goal is to connect the poor community in the village to income generation by teaching them household skills."
Industrial Village has been established under the Chief Minister Innovation Partnership Program He said, "The rural municipality has established the industry with the aim of promoting the latest knowledge, skills, thinking and creativity." The financial support of the state government has been received in this.
The industrial village has been brought into operation with the investment of the union, state and municipality. According to him, so far, the budget allocation of Rs. The rural municipality has said that preparations are being made to take the industrial village to a 'company model' to operate in a sustainable and permanent manner.
In the coming days, the rural municipality has taken the goal of creating direct employment for 100 people at the local level by adding 10 small and medium industries.
