The Ministry of Home Affairs has handed over the emergency warehouse at the old airport of Pokhara to the Gandaki provincial government. The warehouse built with the support of the World Food Program was handed over to the province through a program held in Pokhara on Friday.

During the handover, 5 points have been agreed between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Gandaki Province. The World Food Program will provide necessary training and technical support to the staff and security personnel of the warehouse, the details of the existing aid materials in the warehouse will be submitted to the warehouse chief appointed by the provincial government under the guidance of the provincial disaster management committee, the security of the transferred materials, receiving additional materials, replenishment, storage operation, leveling, record management and insurance will be done by the provincial government, the necessary coordination and facilitation during the transfer process will be done by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority and other arrangements related to the operation of the warehouse National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management It is agreed to be in accordance with the Emergency Warehouse Operation Procedure, 2081 approved by the Executive Committee. The letter of agreement was signed by Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar and Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey. 

The Home Minister said that relief and aid materials have been handed over to the provincial government to facilitate distribution and management. He said that the warehouse house was built with the aim of protecting the people from danger. "We are in a risky geography. We experienced 3 earthquakes in one week. Whenever anything can happen. You have to prepare with that mentality,' he said.  He urged the provincial government to build a small warehouse house at the local level as well. 

Chief Minister Surendraraj Pandey said that when the godam ghar is under the province, relief distribution and relief will be facilitated through the one-door system. The risk of floods and landslides is high in Gandaki province. We believe that it will be easy to deliver the relief materials on time and rescue them," he said. He said that the materials of the warehouse of the state government will also be stored in the warehouse that was handed over on Friday. 

The warehouse, which has been operating since October 9, has a storage capacity of 700 metric tons. The warehouse is built on an area of ​​1,500 square meters (2 ropani) in the south-eastern part of Pokhara Airport. There are 4 prefab offices with container storage space and meeting rooms. In addition, there is a fuel storage bladder with a capacity of 7,500 liters. The warehouse house was built at a cost of 161 thousand US dollars (about 225 million 40 thousand rupees).
