Since the land was not available, the municipality could not move forward with plans for waste management and industrial villages
Jaimini Municipality, which was announced eight years ago by merging the rural settlements, has been suffering in the construction of infrastructure development structures. People's representatives were surprised by the lack of land to carry out important and long-term projects within the city. Due to lack of land, the municipality has not been able to advance the plans of waste management and industrial village.
For a long time, Jaimini municipality has been throwing garbage on the road from Kushmisera market to Jaiminidham. Due to the garbage, the stench has started spreading in the river .
When the Kushmisera Jaminidham road under construction is widened, the residents are complaining that the garbage has also affected the people traveling on the road . Currently, the road from Jaimini Dham to Kushmisera is under construction. As the garbage disposal site will also be destroyed during the widening and leveling of the road, an additional challenge has been added to the municipality. When widening the road, there is a danger of waste going into the river.
Municipal deputy chief Harihar Sharma said that when the municipality was preparing to integrate and operate small and medium industries for three years, there was a lack of land. "We have dreamed of building an industrial village, but there was a challenge in the management of the land," said Sharma. Due to the lack of land, Jaimini could not start both the works.
Kushmisera is located in a small valley. An administrative building is being built on the land given by the locals. Due to the negligence of the contractor, only 50 percent of the building was completed when the deadline expired last January. The municipal executive has become a headache after finding land for other projects.
Mayor Nar Bahadur Pun said that the land has become an obstacle in the construction of Nepal Electricity Authority's substation, police station and other works in Jaimini. "It is a small place, no one gives land, even if we try to buy it, it is difficult to get it, so most of our plans have been affected," said Pun, "even when we reach Pakho area, they say that it is a government budget price."
People's representatives have also managed the budget for some plans, roads and programs in Jaimini by coordinating up to the central level. But due to lack of land, some works could not be done even if wanted, Sharma said. In the first phase, the municipality has prepared some land management of Ward No. 5 for waste management.
"We have found a place where the stench of garbage does not come immediately, and there is no need to throw it in the river or the road, it has yet to be formalized," Pun said, "4 ropani land has been managed for at least 30 years." Pun said that more research is being done as the land is small.
As for the industrial village, at least 35 plants are needed, and the municipality has been challenged. After not finding that much land in Kushmisera of Ward No. 1, land was searched for in Binamare of Ward 5. Under the innovation program, there is a budget of 10 million for the bamboo industry for the current year, but we have not been able to do the work,' said Pun. He said that due to the lack of land designated for the construction of a police station, they are searching. He said that an initiative was taken to build a police station by making some additions to the land near the current zip park.
Chairman of Ward No. 1 Bishnu Prasad Acharya said that land is also being sought for the construction of physical structures including slaughterhouses, stadiums and parks within the city. Although the geography is large, the place to build infrastructure is very small, so it is difficult to get proper land, he says. He said that there is a need for a proper bus park and zip park as jeeps and buses have started operating from Kushmisera to Butwal, headquarters and Pokhara.
