Khwalasothar Rural Municipality of Lamjung has declared a local public holiday on the occasion of Thote cultural festival on Tuesday.
Within Gandaki province, Gurung community has a tradition of celebrating Thote festival with great pomp as a cultural festival on the last Tuesday of July and March every year.
On the occasion of this festival, the chief administrative officer Madhav Prasad Wagle said that on the occasion of this festival, the executive meeting decided to give a local holiday to the rural municipality or internal offices, ward offices, non-essential health-related institutions, all schools and other associations on Tuesday.
Rural Municipality Chairman Surya Prasad Gurung said that local public holidays have been given because Village Puja (Tho Then) is held on the last Tuesday of July and March in Gurung villages.
