In Barpak Sulikot rural municipality-3, the locals have been facing problems due to lack of electricity for almost three weeks. 650 households have been affected by technical problems in the Stulkhola small hydroelectric power plant, which is being used by the locals of Swara village.
"We are facing a lot of problems due to lack of electricity. We have to spend an hour to reach the neighboring village of Saurpani even to charge our mobile phones," local Amar Bahadur Gurung said.
Gurung, who is also the secretary of the hydropower management committee, said that efforts are being made to solve the technical problems in small hydropower. "We are ordering ribbons from Switzerland, it will arrive in a week, there is no other way to turn on the electricity until then," he said.
The locals of Swara village, which did not reach the central electricity transmission line, were consuming electricity from small hydropower. "Until now, such a big problem has not been seen," he said.
When there is no electricity, the locals use candles for light. Poles are being placed and wires are being strung to supply power to the central line in Swara. Locals have complained that they are facing problems due to the delay in the work of the central transmission line.
