In order to make the city orderly, excel in infrastructure and develop urban governance capacity, an 'Intensive Urban Development Project' has been launched in Galkot Municipality.
Under this project, the goal is to organize the development of the city, connect the local people affected by the development to income generation, and make the city agile by increasing its own governance capacity . The municipality has started that work in partnership with the Intensive Urban and Building Division project.
Under the first phase of the project, the road connecting Ward 1 and 2 has been made systematic and wide. There is also a goal to blacken that road within the current year . Apart from that, the chief administrative officer Ghanshyam Gautam said that the road to Kotghar will be paved, the construction of the building of Ward No. 3 for the development of urban government capacity and initiatives to increase the farmers' firm expansion, marketing and production capacity under the income generation program. Santosh Tamang, the representative of Bageshwari Construction Company, said that many works towards infrastructure have been set as a goal to be completed within the current year. The building work is scheduled till February 2082 . People's representatives said that if the road connecting Ward No. 2 Narethanti to Dudilabathi of Ward No. 1 is built, the agricultural crops of the farmers will get market easily. "Difficult road was also a problem in transporting vegetables, now we hope it will be easy," said Him Bahadur Bhandari, Chairman of Galkot Municipality 2. Farmers who raise goats, cultivate vegetables and produce milk in this area are also happy after the construction of the road. "We were able to easily send vegetables to the market," said local Lal Bahadur Khatri.
The head of the project, Krishna Kumar Marhajan, said that this work was started with the goal of developing Galkot as an urban area and developing proper roads, drainage, and government capacity. "This is a model project, after its success, we will support other works as well," Maharjan said, "Since we are an expert office, we have supported the development of the municipality level."
Recently, the wave of slum development in Galkot municipality has been running rapidly. Apart from that, Madhyapahari Lokmarg, strategic road from Hatia to Tarakhola to Myagdi, road from Dandakhet to Sukhora to Shantipur in Gulmi are under construction. Mayor Bharat Sharma Gayre said that the municipality is looking for an expert office to manage those developments. Locals and experts have also suggested that the arable land of this
is running out of building and to start the planned development by managing it in time. Gayre informed that the land use policy has also been made for that. The municipality has also demanded a re-measurement from the federal level after the old map caused problems in the houses and lands of individuals. Gayre informed that a new blueprint for systematic urban development will be created after that work.
