The National Hemja Potato Festival will be held in Pokhara from Chait 24 to Baisakh 3. The 13th edition of the festival is going to be organized by the Bishnupaduka Club located in Pokhara Metropolitan City-25, with the original slogan of 'Go to a beautiful place, eat delicious potato dishes: Alu one dish is many'.

In the press conference held on Monday, club president Basantakumar Shrestha informed about buying and selling of potato and other vegetables, sale of potato dishes, soil and plant testing, exhibition of agricultural equipment and disease diagnosis at the festival. He said that cultural program related to farmers and agriculture, agricultural tableau competition, presentation of famous artists, farmer honor program were also held.  Chairman Shrestha informed that the price of potatoes sold at the

festival has been fixed at a maximum of 42 rupees per kg. Currently, the price of potato in the market is up to 55 rupees. Like last year, this year too, the organizers have prepared to make a mountain of potatoes. There will be about 40 tons of potatoes on that mountain. 

According to the census of 2078, out of the total area of ​​13 thousand 500 hectares of Hemja, potato is cultivated in 590 hectares. 2,000 households here are based on agriculture, while 1,050 farmers have grown commercial potatoes.
