Rajan Kumar Shakya has been elected as the President of the 19th session of Baglung Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Shakya won by getting 644 votes in the voting held on Saturday. His closest rival Umakant Sharma 'Babu' got 519 votes.

As for the members, candidates from both sides have won. Ram Prasad Sharma and Chudamani Sapkota won on behalf of industry members. Sabita Acharya, Kamala Parajuli and Srijana Rajbhandari won in the women's category.

Rishi Ram Gautam, Akil Bahadur KC, Arjun Prasad Kandel, Indramani Paudel, Umesh KC, Deepak Hamal, Chandraraj Regmi, Naveen Kumar Shrestha, Badri Dhungana, Manish Rajbhandari, Raju Gautam, Sreejay Shrestha and Sudipsagar Kandel won in open members. Both the presidential candidates are close to the Congress.

After being elected, Shakya said that he would make the Chamber of Commerce and Industry professional. "We don't do politics in the union, we want to increase business, promote tourism and provide vocational education," said Shakya, "state agencies should create a working environment." The Baglung Industry and Commerce Association, which was established in 2020, has also been conducting the Hirak Mahotsav since last year.

Chandra Dhakal, President of Nepal Industry and Commerce Association, inaugurated the Hirak Mahotsav on Friday. On that occasion, Dhakal said that Dhaulagiri region can be made prosperous through tourism and hydropower. He also urged businessmen to increase investment for tourism promotion.
