A five-bed basic hospital building has been constructed in Lomanthang Rural Municipality of Upper Mustang. Under the federal government's integrated health infrastructure development program, a two-and-a-half-story basic health service building was constructed with the assistance of Lomanthang Rural Municipality.
In order to provide health services to the citizens of Upper Mustang, the infrastructure construction contract was signed in the financial year 2078/79. While the construction of the basic health service infrastructure in Lomanthang, which has a contract period of two years, was underway, due to the corona epidemic and adverse weather conditions, the specified time could not be completed. According to the contract, the building was to be completed in May 2080/81.
Lomanthang-5 A 27-storey building has been constructed near Lomanthang market. The building was completed at a cost of 7.19 million rupees, said Vikas KC, Acting Office Head of the Rural Municipality. He informed that, for the purpose of providing services with specialist doctors, accommodation for doctors and health workers including surgery room, X-ray room, lab room, delivery room, pharmacy room has been built.
President of Lomanthang Tasinarbu Gurung said that the building was constructed to provide basic health services to the citizens of Upper Mustang. He says that even though the building is built, there is a lack of equipment and manpower to operate the service. "The support of the federal and state governments is needed to operate the service," he said.
