Galkot Nagar Hospital expanding its services, treating more than 30,000 a year

From October of the current year to the middle of February, 56 people have given birth in Galkot Nagar Hospital alone. 16 people have been operated.

The hospital, which has been operating for two years, started operating surgery services from last October. The hospital head Dr. Dr. Rajesh Poudel said. The hospital has provided treatment services to more than 30,000 people a year.

The municipality supported the construction of infrastructure, while the Gandaki provincial government supported the purchase of materials, equipment and training. After the infrastructure and materials arrived, the Family Health Division gave permission to the hospital for surgery services on August 16.

Although the hospital building was built, there was a lack of space to build a delivery room. A maternity ward has been built in the building of the old primary health center for a year. Up to 15 beds can be kept here. "Now we are able to provide regular operation services," said Paudel, "because there is no blood collection center, patients who come to the operation service have problems if there is a lack of blood." The hospital has video X-ray, ultrasound, lab, OPD, post-mortem services along with delivery services.

Apart from that, preparations have also been made for the operation of physiotherapy services in the hospital  The necessary room management has been done for that. It is ready to provide round-the-clock service by keeping a doctor's accommodation inside the hospital.

This year, four more rooms are going to be added at a cost of 4 million with the help of the municipality and the Gandaki provincial government. Not only Galkot and Tarakhola but also Badigad and other highway patients have been served here. According to the statistics of the hospital, daily 150 to 180 patients come here for treatment.

After the post-mortem service started here, the locals said that the hassle of going to the headquarters has reduced. Mayor Bharat Sharma Gayre made a slogan that people's health is the first priority even in policies and programs. The municipality has also invested a lot in health. "There was a desire to provide a service with operations within the city, it has just been fulfilled," said Mayor Gayre, "to continue this service, the municipality aims to continuously increase investment."  He said that if the hospital becomes organized, millions of expenses of the common people will be saved. Deputy Chief Famlal Niure, Chairman of Ward No. 5 Pawan Hamal and Coordinator of Social Development Committee Hemant Bhandari also coordinated all mechanisms from the center to the state to provide all services to the city hospital. After this campaign, three municipalities of West Baglung have been relieved by this hospital.

Apart from that, various organizations have helped here with x-ray machines, ambulances, eye treatment centers, etc. Galkot municipality has started giving incentive allowance to those who go to health institutions and take regular pregnancy tests.

In case of regular pregnancy test and delivery in a health institution, there is a provision that the municipality will give a lump sum of 4 thousand 600 rupees and the federal government will give 2 thousand 6 thousand 600 rupees in a lump sum. Sushil Paudel, the head of the City Health Branch, said that with this amount, the pregnant woman will be able to eat nutrition.
