Former King Gyanendra Shah has come to the ancestral home of Gorkha for the first time after the establishment of the Republic. Shah, who came to Gorkha on Saturday, offered prayers at Gorakhkali and Gorakhnath temples. Former king Shah spent almost 2 hours in the Gorakhkali temple, which was worshiped as a deity by the kings of the Shah dynasty.
While offering prayers at Gorakhkali and Gorakhnath Temples, Shah also inspected Gorkha Palace which was rebuilt after the earthquake.
The supporters of the former king raised slogans in favor of the monarchy for a while. They also held a motorcycle rally from Abu Khaireni to Gorkha Darbar.
A civil society was formed to manage the Gorkha visit to Shah. "The deity of Shah dynasty king is Gorakhkali . He has come for the worship of Gorakhkali, Gorakhnath and Vajrabhairav," said Home Sin Basnet, co-ordinator of the civil society, "He returned after worshiping."
Shah is scheduled to worship Mankamana temple on Sunday.
