Special Parajuli, President of Nepal Students Union, Baglung has resigned. He said that he resigned because he had to become a cruel victim of extreme factionalism when the party interfered in the elections of the Independent Students' Union.
Srishti Acharya, the candidate for the post of president from the Navy Sangh, has been defeated in the elections held at the Dhaulagiri multipurpose campus. Asmin Shaikh of Anerasviu won the chairmanship.
Deepak Subedi rebelled from the Navy. He got 7 votes and he got 122 votes even though he was affiliated to the New Union. Acharya was defeated by 61 votes. Subedi did 'midpack' only after time expired.
In the election, ANERASWIU won only one member, while the candidates of the UNSWU won all the other positions . Parajuli alleges that the party interfered in the candidate selection process.
In his resignation letter, Parajuli has promised to creatively support the candidate who will accept defeat as democracy has a rule of accepting defeat. "Due to the undemocratic, apolitical and irresponsible character of the party leadership, we could not do justice to the history of our own struggle," he said.
He addressed the central president Dujang Sherpa and resigned.
