The students of the Institute of Engineering Studies (Western Campus) have protested, demanding to start voting for the Independent Students' Union (SWAVIU). Stones and bottles were thrown at the campus gate.
After the gates were not opened for voting for 4 hours, the students became agitated. About 400 students staying in campus hostels voted, but they could not vote as they were outside the gate since morning. The students of the union were not allowed to enter the gate after the students of the union protested at the gate and blocked it. The students sitting inside the gate threw stones at those who obstructed the gate and those sitting outside threw bottles.
Nepal Police and Armed Police have been mobilized in large numbers.
Due to the internal dispute of the union, the election process has been interrupted in this campus. As part of the election process, nomination papers were distributed on the campus on February 26. On that day, 6 people including Aneraswaviyu, Navy Sangh, Akhil (revolutionary) and 3 independent candidates took nomination papers. 1 independent candidate with all 3 organizations submitted their nomination papers to the election officer's office on February 27. Due to internal disputes, the Navy had to submit torn nomination papers.
Kushal Sapkota and Prashant Joshi were aspiring candidates for the post of secretary from the Navy Association. When Joshi filled the nomination form, the Sapkota party tore it up. Joshi submitted the two-part nomination paper to the election committee. The election committee decided to cancel it. The campus unit of the Navy is in favor of going to the election even without a secretary, while the central committee is in favor of not contesting the election without a secretary.
