A meeting was held between Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendraraj Pandey and Sub-Regional Director of UNDP Asia and Pacific Region Christophe Bahuyet on Monday. In the meeting, Chief Minister Pandey said that the assistance provided by UNDP to the state and local levels in the field of empowerment is effective.

Appreciating the support provided by UNDP in the field of sustainable development, waste management, innovation and entrepreneurship within Gandaki province, he said,  "We are ready to cooperate with UNDP in the priority areas of the province including infrastructure, health, education, tourism, agriculture, climate change," he said. According to the policy taken by the provincial government, cooperation in these areas will help prevent youth migration, create jobs, expand farming in barren land and promote entrepreneurship. He said that since the Gandaki state government has identified its priority areas in the second five-year plan, the people of the state can achieve great achievements if they cooperate in that area. 

Director Christoph said that the meeting with the Government of Gandaki Province was the first official program of Nepal and expressed his happiness to be able to cooperate. He was also interested in the effectiveness of the programs implemented under the Provincial and Local Government Assistance Program (PLGSP). 

Aid program is being conducted in Gandaki province with the help of UNDP. Chief Minister Pandey said that this program has helped in the field of capacity development and empowerment of the local level and the province. After the implementation of federalism, the provincial structure is new for us. This project has great support in the areas of law-making, periodical planning, capacity development, gender social inclusion, and revenue improvement,' he said. In the

meeting, there was a discussion about making the program being conducted in collaboration with UNDP more effective, and identifying new areas of cooperation. Krishnachandra Devkota, Vice Chairman of Gandaki State Policy Planning Commission, informed about the strategy adopted by the government in the second five-year plan. In the meeting, Gandaki Province Chief Secretary Raghuram Bista, UNDP's resident representative in Nepal Kyoko Yokosuka and the delegation and representatives of the Chief Minister's Office participated in the meeting  was.
