Preparation for public bus operation in Manang

Preparations have been made for the operation of public buses in the Himalayan district of Manang. So far, only pick-jeep has been serving the public in Manang. Chief District Officer Matrika Acharya said that a preparatory meeting was held on Sunday regarding the operation of public buses.

"We have prepared to operate a bus from Lamjung headquarters Bensi Sahar to Manang headquarters Chame for the first time as public transportation," he said.

A coordination meeting held with the coordination of the chief district officer, the head of the security agency, the office bearer of the transportation business committee and the local people's representative and the head of the infrastructure development office has decided to operate the bus as a public transport .

He said that the conclusion of the meeting is that bus operation is necessary to ensure convenient travel for the residents of Manang, internal and external tourists and employees by operating the transportation in an orderly, accessible and simple manner .

The Chief District Officer Acharya said that for the first time in Manang, the Chief District Officer Acharya decided to obtain the necessary route license from the Transport Management Office for bus operation in Manang, and after obtaining the route license, the fare rate will be determined.

Previously, only 5-seat pickup jeeps were operating in Manang, so the passengers had to travel with difficulty. Prajia Acharya said that due to this, passengers do not get vehicles easily during the tourist season, they have to pay expensive fares, they have to travel unsafely sitting behind the vehicles and the locals cannot get vehicles to travel short distances.

"It is expected that there will be a significant improvement in Manang's traffic management when public transport buses are able to operate," he said. He said that tourists, general public and employees will be able to travel easily and safely by vehicles at reasonable and concessional fares and it is expected that the market price of goods will also be reduced by operating the means of transporting goods.

It has been decided to identify difficult and problematic places to make passenger bus operation safe and easy, to coordinate with the transport business and infrastructure development office and to request road division office Damauli, Dumre-Bensisahar-Chame road project Bensissahar and under-construction hydropower project and local level to upgrade the identified places .

The minibus reached Manang headquarters Chame in the second week of Chait 2075. The passenger bus has not yet reached Manang after reaching and returning from Bensi Sahar-Bahundanda. Prajia Acharya said that now the condition of the road is improving and buses can be operated.

The road built by the Nepalese army after 10 years was handed over to the road department in 2069. Now trucks have also started plying on that road.

About 65 km of the Bensi Sahar-Chame road, 7 km of road from Bensi Sahar to Khudi has been pitched . The administration of Manang has informed that the difficult roads have been sloped and upgraded in many places.
