Barpak Sulikot rural municipality-8 Jarang, 'Janyuddha' museum has been constructed. A museum has been built in Jarang, the village of Dil Bahadur Ramtel, who was martyred during the 10-year armed conflict of Maoists. The official opening of the museum is yet to take place.
"Dil Bahadur Ramtel Memorial Park and People's War Museum" will have weapons room, audio-visual room and statue and photo exhibition room, said Bishnu Bhatt, Chairman of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality. "We have started the construction of the museum since 2076, and it is planned to be completed within the next two years," he said.
He said that the museum was built with the budget of the municipality and the federal government. Bhatt said that the construction of the museum has started by purchasing 9 ropani land in the name of Martyr Foundation Nepal. "I myself joined the Maoist movement at the age of 20. I was open about how to explain what the Maoist movement experienced to the future generations," he said. He said that there will be a photo exhibition room in the
museum reflecting the situation from the beginning to the end of the People's War. "We are also keeping what weapons were used during the People's War," he said. Bhatt told that the work of construction of library, picnic spot and other structures is still pending. He said that the students who come on educational visit, the group of mothers have also started coming to visit the museum. "We are also in the process of acquiring land to build a picnic spot," he said.
For the construction of the museum, about four crores have already been done, he said . Chuna, Surki, Gherawar and other works are being done from the budget of one and a half million in the current financial year. Bhatt said that there is a plan to keep the first martyr of Nepal, Lakhan Thapa, who rebelled against the Rana regime for the first time, four martyrs who fought against the Rana regime in 2007, four martyrs of the Jhapa movement who fought against the panchayat, Captain Yagya Bahadur Thapa, Suresh Wagle who was martyred during the people's war. "Symbolically, we have tried to concentrate all the streams of achieving the republic, we are also making a pillar in the memory of those who were martyred during the conflict, be it the Maoist side or the other side," he said.
