On the occasion of the 43rd Magar Foundation Day, all 10 municipalities of Tanahun have given a public holiday. As part of local holidays, public holidays have been given in 4 municipalities and 6 rural villages on Thursday, February 15.

Magar Association has been celebrating the day of establishment of Nepal Langhali Parivar Sangh on 15th February 2039 in Damauli, the headquarter of Tanahun. On that day, ward offices, schools, health institutions (except for essential services), and all public institutions under the municipality will be closed.

The first convention of 'Nepal Langhali Parivar Sangh' was held in Damauli on 14th, 15th and 16th of February 2039 in the presence of thousands of Magar community amid the police siege in Panchayat system. In commemoration of the same day, February 15 is celebrated as the founding day of the association. This day is also known as Magar Day. The fourth convention of 2048 changed the name of 'Nepal Langhali Parivar Sangh' to 'Nepal Magar Sangh'.

On the occasion of Magar Day, a grand rally with costumes and tableaus reflecting the Magar culture and traditional Sorthi, Kauda, ​​Salijo, Ghatu dance and various cultural programs are organized.

The Magar community of Tanahun has been demanding a public holiday from the federal government on February 15, national recognition of Lakhan Thapa, a proper budget for the protection of the Magar community's language and culture, and full compliance with international treaties and agreements including ILO 169.

Out of the total population of Tanahun 3 lakh 21 thousand 153, the largest number belongs to the Magar community. According to the national census of 2078, the population of the Magar community is 83 thousand 639.
