Belaspur tense all day, 19 injured [Update]

A clash between two groups in Palhinandan rural municipality-3 Belaspur of West Nawalparasi turned tense on Tuesday. 19 people, including 15 policemen, were injured in a clash between a local young man and a young woman over a love affair.

Police said that during the clash, a vehicle numbered Ba 1 Jh 7448 of the area police office Maheshpur was set on fire and a Kawadi godown was set on fire in front of the girl's house. There was a dispute between two groups regarding the love relationship between a girl from the Muslim community and a boy from the Dhowi surname. During the clash, police fired 5 rounds of tear gas and 3 rounds of aerial fire to bring the situation under control, Chief Superintendent of Police, District Police Office Nawalparasi, Gyanendra Prasad Phuyal said. Now the situation is normal. "Police have been mobilized in large numbers at the incident site," Fuyal said, "We are discussing with the stakeholders from both sides on behalf of the administration to bring the incident back to normal." Police said that the situation at the scene is normal. A large number of security personnel have been deployed around the incident site. On Monday, the dispute flared up after the boy's brother was beaten up by the girl's relatives. According to the locals, the age of both the children is around 20 years and the police said that they are not in contact with their families after the love affair. 

Locals say that the relatives of both sides tried to keep the children in love apart, but they did not come in contact with the family and the police after the children refused. The police have detained 5 people suspected to be involved in the incident.
