On the occasion of the 148th commemoration day of Nepal's first martyr Lakhan Thapamagar and his comrade Jaysingh Chumi Rana Magar, Shaheed Lakhan Rural Municipality has given a public holiday on February 1st and 2nd. According to the village council, it was decided to give public holiday for two days after the decision of the village executive meeting on 23rd of January.
The rural municipality informed through a public notice on Tuesday that the second Lakhan Cup inter-ward men's volleyball tournament was also organized in memory and honor of the martyrs who sacrificed for the establishment of the democratic republic including the first martyr Thapamagar and his fellow soldiers Chumimagar.
On February 1st and 2nd, government offices and schools in the rural municipality have been given a public holiday, according to the rural municipality.
