The electricity producer has to pay the fee set by the municipality and get permission

Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality has arranged that the electricity producer should pay the fee determined by the rural municipality and obtain a hydropower production survey permit.

In the 16th session of the Village Assembly on Saturday, the survey permit fee for hydropower generation up to 1 megawatt has been proposed and passed. The chief administrative officer of the rural municipality said that the rate is 2 lakhs for up to 250 kilowatts, 3 lakhs for up to 500 kilowatts, 4 lakhs for up to 750 kilowatts and 5 lakhs for up to 1 megawatt. "We have tried to increase the internal resources of the municipality and bring the hydropower company under the scope of tax," he said, "This decision has been made by looking at the practice in other municipalities."  He said that the local level has the authority to grant permission for electricity production up to 1 megawatt according to the electricity production permit guidelines 2075. In the session, Sanmaya Gurung, the vice president of the village, submitted a proposal for the permission fee for the hydropower generation survey in the revision of the Economic Act. Bavulal Gurung, chairman of Ward No. 6, supported the proposal. After passing the convention, the village council is ready to move forward by creating a procedure. 

He said that when permission is given for electricity production, a fixed fee will be charged. "After the establishment of the procedure, the hydropower that is currently in operation will also come under the scope of tax," he said. He said that the tax to be paid when generating electricity from the river within the municipality has been arranged. He said that with the

procedure, electricity producers within the rural municipality will also be facilitated in regulation. The convention has also decided to make a road master plan this year. "There was a complaint that the road standards of the Building Code of Conduct were not practical, we have amended it," he said.

It is also arranged that natural resource tax should be paid by the union and state government while operating the scheme within the rural municipality. "In the plan implemented by the local level, we collected tax on natural resources, there was a problem with the plan of the state and union," he said. The decision has also been made.'
