The village assembly has decided to keep the center of Gandaki Rural Municipality in Vantar located in Ward No. 6. In the 17th village assembly held on Friday, voting was held on the center of the municipality. In the voting, two-thirds of the votes were in favor of the decision to keep the administrative building of the rural municipality in Vantar, said Deepak Timalsina, chairman of the rural municipality.
"Out of the number of existing members of the Assembly, two-thirds of the votes came in favor, and zero votes were received against," he said.
President Timalsina said that it was approved by two-thirds of the votes to maintain the administrative building in Vantar. People's representatives elected from Congress-UML boycotted the village assembly on Friday.
There has been a dispute about the center of Gandaki Rural Municipality since the previous tenure. The service that used to flow from Gavis Bhavan (Okhaldanda) in the past was transferred to Vantar after being elected in 2079 through the service center. "Even in the first term, there was no agreement on the rules to keep the center in Okhaldanda," President Timalsina said, "There was also an agenda for the election to move the center. We have built a center in Vantar to suit the residents of Fuzel, Gyalchok, Darvung and other areas. Many friends have expressed their support for keeping the center here." ;
28 out of 42 members were present at the village assembly on Friday. 14 people's representatives elected from Congress and UML, including the vice president, boycotted the meeting. Lalita Adhikari, the vice president of the rural municipality, said that she boycotted the village assembly after repeatedly asking them not to bring an agenda about the village center. "There is a pending case in the Supreme Court, we are ready to accept the decision of the case, but we said not to make the pending matter an agenda, it was not heard," she said.
As the case is pending in the Supreme Court regarding the administrative building Congress, UML had issued a statement on Thursday saying that there is no reason to discuss until the decision is taken.
