Santosh Pokharel has been elected as the President of Palungtar Municipality of Nepal Samajwadi Party (New Power). A 27-member city committee was elected under the chairmanship of Pokharel from the first city meeting held on Thursday.

Sushil Shrestha was elected as the vice-chairman of the committee, Bhatbabu Shrestha as the secretary, Sita Bhattarai as the joint secretary and Bharat Devkota as the treasurer. Newly elected chairman Pokharel said that four members will be added to the city committee. He also said that the municipal committee was unanimously elected.
