The work of diverting the flow of Narayani river, which is the border river between Chitwan and Nawalparasi, towards Nawalparasi has started. For some years, due to the extraction of river materials from the Chitwan side, the flow of the river has only flowed towards Chitwan.
After there was no flow of water in the Narayani river which reaches Trivenidham through Gaindakot, Devchuli, Kawasoti and Madhyabindu municipalities of East Nawalparasi, the work of diverting the river to the north (towards Nawalparasi) started on Thursday under the leadership of the district coordination committee.
Baburam Bishwakarma, the head of District Coordination Committee East Nawalparasi, said that the work of returning the flow of the river has started by removing the stone gravel piled up towards Nawalparasi from Ganesh Ghat located in Ward No. 11 of Gaindakot Municipality on Thursday. By Friday He says that the work of returning the flow of water to Nawalparasi will be completed.
Tourism businessmen and conservation workers have repeatedly drawn the attention of the government saying that the water life of Nawalparasi is also in danger due to Narayani's water flowing only towards Chitwan.
