Minister of Social Development, Youth and Sports Vindukumar Thapa has said that preparations are underway to make Gurung and Magar languages ​​official languages ​​in Gandaki province. Speaking at a program organized in Pokhara on Monday on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar, he said that the law-making process will be carried out on this matter.

He said that this step is important to protect the cultural and linguistic identity of the Gurung and Magar communities. "The bill will be presented to the provincial assembly soon after consultation with the local community," he said. He believed that he would reach.  He has also pointed out the need for manpower development, language training and strengthening of the administrative mechanism for the implementation of the

law. He mentioned that it is being tried to make it an exemplary project for the promotion of other mother tongues in the future. "Gandaki province is about to take such a legal initiative for the first time," he said, "it is expected to strengthen the multilingual structure."

Saying goodbye to the old year and welcoming the new year, Tamu Lhosar is celebrated across the country including Pokhara on Monday. The Gurung community bid farewell to the Garuda year and welcomed the Nag year. Tamu Hryul Chong Dhin Gurung National Council Kaski, Mahila National Council Kaski, Chong Dhin Kaski, Tamu Dhin Nepal and Tamu Pyye Lhu Sangh Parivar based in Pokhara-11 exchanged greetings and held a cultural program in Pame in Pokhara. In the event, the Gurung community of Pokhara dressed up in clothes reflecting their identity. Various cultural programs were presented in the program.
