Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendraraj Pandey has said that investment in tourism and agriculture should be increased to create production and employment.
Addressing the 49th general assembly and 17th session opening ceremony of the Gorkha Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday, he said that to reduce the rate of migration, priority should be given to the program of connecting with production. He said that out of the seven provinces, the rate of migration is increasing in Gandi Province. "There is a practice of migrating to urban areas, going to the Terai, going abroad," he said, "it is happening to the extent that it is happening here, it is a terrible situation."
If the process of migration continues at this pace, there is a danger that the settlements will collapse, roads leading to the villages, health posts and schools will not be justified, he said. "This is a matter of concern," he said. He also said that the
program was conducted especially targeting agriculture. Pandey also said that since the main area of infrastructure is the road network, the state government has given priority to the road connecting the center of the municipality and the center of the ward.
Chumanuvri of Gorkha and Narpabhumi Rural Municipality of Manang under the Gandaki Province are yet to be connected by road network, he said. "The road connecting the center of all the municipalities is in accordance with the government's policy, after connecting the center of the municipality, the main road network of the ward remains a priority," he said.
