The Muglin-Pokhara section of Prithvi Highway is being expanded to four lanes. This section of about 88 km distance is divided into two parts and the road expansion is currently underway.

Ambukhaireni-Jamune has been divided into the eastern section and Jamune-Pokhara into the western section, while the issue of how to proceed with the road expansion of about 8 km of the Ambukhareni-Muglin section has not yet been finalized . Although the expansion work of the eastern section of the highway has reached its final stage, the work of the western section has not made the expected progress. 

The road expansion plan has extended its deadline for the second time for the western section . According to the agreement, the deadline was extended for the second time after the construction party could not complete the highway expansion work. An agreement was reached between the government and the construction party on the east section (Ambukhaireni-Jamune) of the highway on January 17, 2077 and the west section (Jamune-Pokhara) on June 2, 2078 to construct and hand over the road within 3 years.

Information Officer of Muglin-Pokhara Road Plan (West Section) said that due to the fact that the construction was not completed within the specified time, the deadline of the western section was extended by one year. "As the construction side advanced the process of extending the deadline due to various reasons, we also submitted for the second time after considering everything," he said. The construction side has also committed to complete the work at the time of this addition.

He said that 12 bridges including 4 big and 8 small bridges should be constructed in this section and two bridges of Vijaypur and Kotre Khola are under construction. The tower of Seti Bridge at Kaski is being constructed . He said, "The work of the foundation has been completed". The work of sub structure and super structure is left . The goal is to complete the lower side bridge by the end of this year. The physical progress of this bridge is 32.13 percent and the financial progress is 24.24 percent.

Similarly, Prakashchandra Bhandari, head of the eastern section, said that he is preparing for the third extension of the deadline to complete the road construction according to the agreement. He said, "Until now, there is no transfer of water pipes, no transfer of underground wires, and the lack of complete removal of the physical structure of the market area. The construction side is complaining that the construction has not been accelerated. Even though there is talk of extending the deadline from the construction side, we have not received an official letter.

He said that the construction could not be completed on time due to lack of road clearance, double revenue for construction materials, non-removal of physical structures on time, corona infection etc. He said, 'It seems that the deadline has to be extended for Dumre, Damauli market area, Pahara area of ​​Bimalnagar etc.' Bishnu Pandey, the engineer of the eastern section, said that the final stage of the black sheeting of the 20 km one-way road has been completed so far. He said, 'We are speeding up to complete the work within the additional time.' However, after the work was not completed within the specified time period, the deadline was extended for the first time till August 29 by adding 155 days of corona grace period. After the construction was not completed even by that time, the deadline was extended for the second time until February 1, 2018, Pandey, the engineer of the eastern section, said. According to him, the physical progress of this section is 71 percent and the financial progress is 53 percent.
