During the expansion of Gorkha state, the Nepali army is going to march on the footpath used by Prithvi Narayan Shah.
Ganpati Ashok Kumar Chhetri of Nepali Army's Repumardan Gana said that the padayatra will start from the 21st of this month. He said that the trip will be transferred by district. "The journey that starts from Gorkha on the 21st of Pus will be handed over to the Shiv Dal Gana at Ghatbensi in Dhading on the same day," he said.
Through Dhading-Nuwakot, the journey will end by reaching the special ceremony to be held at Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti on the 27th of January. "We also discussed with the stakeholders today how to increase public participation in the program and explain the history," he said.
There is going to be a journey of 26 Kosh from Gorkha Darbar to Hanumandhoka. The army has been marching on the Gorkha-Kathmandu unification route in the past years as well. It is believed that the
journey will help inform future generations about the Nepal Unification Pathway and historical heritage. During the campaign of unification of Nepal, the Nepalese army has been continuing the walk from five years ago to develop the footpath used by the then King Prithvi Narayan Shah as a footpath for unification.
