Bishnu Kumari Tamang entered the 'city of dreams' from Bhojpur 9 years ago. He had great ambitions and plans. However, the desire was to do some work.

The capital Kathmandu was very different from what he expected. She was confused about what to do and what not to do on the first day. After working as a security guard for some time, she had to pay the room rent and ration expenses with a salary of 12,000. While looking for another option, she reached Medicity Hospital .

She got a job as a cleaning worker and had to arrive at 9 o'clock in the morning . It was difficult for him to reach Medicity from Matatirtha where he was staying. 'Having to change two cars to reach it,' she said, 'because it was difficult to reach on time, I had to leave work later.'

alone Vishnumaya   Then his hard days began . The work was nothing. She began to experience how difficult it is to live in Kathmandu after having no income. 'How did she spend when she had no work and no source of income?', she remembers the bad days of the past.

Dhann has known a woman who works as a co-driver in Janata Transport. The same friend advised her to do the same thing. But he didn't have the courage at first . New city, crowded, noisy . It was difficult for her to make an immediate decision as she knew the squares well. But the stomach and empty pocket did not allow to be silent . After quitting her job, she remembered that she forgot to eat for two hours and took a vow that she would work. Thus she took on a new responsibility, co-driver .

'I came from the village with many dreams, what would have happened as I thought,' she says, 'I had to feed my stomach . That's why I started working as a co-driver in public transportation.' 

In the early days, Vishnu had to suffer a lot. After boarding the bus, some passengers looked at him from top to bottom. She used to blush with shame . Some people used to ask the question 'why did you take up such a profession'? At that time, he thought - am I doing something that should be questioned like this? Do you have to answer every place even when doing what you want to save your life? He spent many nights playing with such questions in his mind. 'But slowly I started earning good money . After that, I stopped taking what others said,' she says in a proud voice.

After getting a good salary, she started working in Nepal Transport . She is the first female co-driver on the Sanathali-Gothatar-Jadibuti-Baneshwar-Putlisadak-Bagbazar route. She says, "There was a sister in public transport". I was the only one in this . Therefore, many passengers are very interested in why I worked as a co-driver.' 

In the early days, she started to ignore such negative things when someone hurt her. 

Previously, travelers used to watch the sight of standing at the door with money in one hand and the name of the route in the other. Until a few years ago, 'daughters are also co-drivers? Don't do other work, why did you choose this profession? If we don't get a job, we will look for up to 10,000. As she started working to run her daily life, such questions made her heart cold . She used to think with one mind - the co-driver profession is a job only done by men, I will leave it. Another mind would say - where is it written that any work can only be done by men and not by women? She decided to quit by changing the perception made by the society. 

But there are also those who admire his courage and courage. So that he was filled with energy to work . She said that when she was humiliated, the encouragement given by someone made her proud of what she had done.  Although she is sad while working

, she is satisfied with the income from it. She has been a co-driver for 7 years and says, "I have enjoyed eating and living". I earn up to 40,000 in many . Even when it is not happening, it is 15 to 20 thousand . 36-year-old Vishnu also shared her future dream - to buy and drive a car with the money she earned.

Influenced by Vishnu's work, four women are working as co-drivers on this route. Sushila Tamang is one of them. He has been working in Nepal Transport for two years. Born in Kavre, she came to Kathmandu 12 years ago.

Her husband Sonam Tamang is a driver by profession. He bought a bus two years ago and was thinking about who to hire as a co-driver. After being hired, Sushila dared to think about the salary, the car loan, the house expenses, and the education of her daughters. But the husband said not to make an immediate decision. He said many kinds of things like looking at the girl and looking at people in a bad way . 

But she took the stand that she can and will work, and her husband did not stop her. "In the early days, you can't, your husband used to say that co-driver's daughter is not a profession for a man." After seeing what I did, his thinking changed . Now you appreciate me for being brave,' says 32-year-old Sushila.

After becoming self-employed, she does not have to ask her husband to buy the things she needs and meet the needs of her daughters. She is happy that she does not have to wait for the monthly salary. "Until he was not working, all the responsibilities were on his husband's shoulders." If the daughters needed some things or to bring things home, they had to tell their husbands,' she says, 'now we don't have to wait for his salary . I have been able to fulfill my wishes and desires with the money I earned.' 

Kathmandu's traffic problem and the nature of some passengers, even though she has to face various stresses every day, she says that the earned money has helped her a lot in running the house. Where is it easy for people in every profession? Problems and sorrows are different,' she says, 'I am a co-driver . Standing from morning to evening makes me tired. One should speak loudly while getting in and out of the vehicle . A traveler hurts, one has to bear the blows of words. 

His plan now is to educate his three daughters well. After collecting money and buying a Tempi, he has also cherished the desire to become a driver himself. "You have to struggle every day to fulfill your wishes," she says.

Jagatmaya Tamang is new in this profession . It has been only four months since he became a co-driver .

30-year-old Jagatmaya has two sons and a daughter. Husband is a driver by profession. In the early days, she stood at the door of the car from morning to evening and said the name of the route, calling the passengers, and said that she had to hang her neck several times. 

She hails from Kavre and was previously unemployed. She said that she started working as a co-driver so that it would be easy for her to raise her children and manage the house. It is not written anywhere that only the husband should earn. I chose a new profession because it would be easier if everyone works to support the family,' she said.

It is her experience that even though she works happily at other times, it is very painful when she is menstruating. You have to travel standing all day long. Also, during menstruation, the back, waist, and stomach all hurt at once,' she says, 'if I don't take leave, the money will be less . Sometimes, if I get less money, I will work as much as I can, even though I will stop working at home.

He thinks that he will continue working as a co-driver for as long as he can. She says that she earns between 25,000 and 30,000 per month and also saves. 'With the money she earns with her husband, it will be very easy to run the household expenses,' she says happily.
