Kanchu Tharu was the chairman of Badhaiyatal rural municipality-9 of Bardia. While leading the ward for five years, he understood the needs of the people. He became closer to the lack and problems. When his tenure was over, he did not let his skills go to waste. He started repairing bicycles.

Having spent 5 years on the chair of political responsibility, his passion for his old profession has never diminished . He has been running a small shop in front of the ward office for three years after the end of the term of the ward president. Where he does not only repair bicycles, he also has a photocopy machine and also runs a grocery store .

Customers who come to the ward office also visit the nearest shop for advice. "I worked as a guardian of the ward for 5 years," says the 62-year-old from Baghaiyatal-9 Tesanpur. I have decided not to stand in the 2079 election even to give opportunities to new people.'

Even though he is not in charge now, he is seen giving advice to the clients who come to the ward office to get services. "If my need arises, I have reached the headquarter Gularia for their work," he says, "Economy is not everything, if the aim was to earn more, I would have kept a shop near the market. I have opened a shop near the office to serve the residents of the ward." He says that instead of sitting idle, he also does cycling to maintain his skills.

Around the year 2036, after studying up to 2nd grade, he was forced to work. In the year 2057, he was freed from work and started farming. Started a bicycle shop in Sheetlabazar in 2072. In the year 2074, he was elected as ward president from Maoists. "Even though I don't have a lot of education, I did not have much problem running the ward for 5 years because I worked in collaboration with the organization for 8-9 years," he says.
