Preparations for the 9th Nepal International Film Festival (NIF) have reached the final stage.

The pre-event phase of NIF was completed with the completion of the program titled ‘Short Film Evening’ on Friday evening at the Kantipur Theater in Gairidhara. The

program featured award-winning short films ‘Julungo’, ‘Bear Tree in the Mist’, ‘Junko’ and ‘Chiso Ghar’ from various international film festivals and previous editions of NIF.

After watching the short films, the relevant makers answered the questions raised by the audience. Earlier, NIF had organized two interactive programs titled ‘Har Cinema Har Voice’ and ‘The New Wave in Nepali Cinema’ as part of the pre-event.

Chairman KP Pathak said that preparations for NIF have now reached the final stage. He said, ‘The pre-event has been successfully completed. Now we are ready for the festival starting from Chaitra 19. Almost all the preparations are done. The events to be held at NIF will be made public on NIF's official social media pages and website in a few days.'

Chairman Pathak informed that this edition also includes a five-day AI film workshop. He said about the workshop, 'There will be a five-day workshop to highlight the topic of how to use AI in pre-production, production and post-production. This workshop focuses on the use of the highest AI in filmmaking. There will also be discussions on the future of AI.'

Interested people can participate in this program by applying by Chaitra 11 (March 25). Similarly, NIF has also included a program titled 'NIF Feature Pitch', keeping in mind the writers who are looking for producers. Where writers with experience in making short films will get the opportunity to tell the story of their feature film to the producer.

Chairman Pathak says, "This program has been included with the aim of benefiting young filmmakers, especially those who have made short films or have proven themselves to be good at them."

According to the organizers, 88 films from 40 countries will be screened at NIF, along with 10 interactive programs on different topics.
