The story of the film was written by Sahara herself. Sahara, who lives in New York, USA, had previously directed 'Chasing Rainbows'. Sahara's film, which was shown as the opening film of the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMF) in 2013, won the top award in the Nepali Panorama category.
'Ek Muthi Badal' received various foreign grants and producer Abhimanyu Dixit received the Rotterdam Lab Award at the NFDC Film Market in India for this film. Along with Aanchal, the film also stars Nisha Sharma, Usha Rajak, Bhima Mainali, Asmita Gautam, Shekhar Chapagain, Manish Niraula, Sahyog Adhikari, Gaurav Bista, Abiral Pratap Adhikari and others.
