Buddhist Empress Moktan has been crowned the 18th Miss Tamang.
Moktan became Miss Tamang after beating 16 competitors in the grand finale held at the Nepal Police Club in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu on Saturday. She was crowned by the 17th Miss Tamang Anju Thokar. The winner received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and various gift hampers. She also won the Miss Confident and Viewer's Choice titles.
18-year-old Moktan, who dreams of becoming an engineer, said that she achieved this success with the love and support of her family and will now work for women's empowerment.
Nuwakot's Sushma Lama Syangtan became the first runner-up in the competition, while Srishti Thing Tamang became the second runner-up. Similarly, Osin Gole Tamang became the third runner-up.
The first runner-up was awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000, the second runner-up Rs 20,000 and the third runner-up Rs 10,000 along with a gift hamper, said Ranjita Lama, chairperson of the organizer Moms International. Chief guest Phurba Khen Rimpoche Tamang and Nayak Amir Dong presented the titles and prizes to the winners.
In the competition, Shristi Thing Tamang won the title of Miss Photogenic, Devi Waiba Tamang won the title of Miss Talent, Aishwarya Ghising Tamang won the title of Best Dress and Miss Multimedia, Sujina Gongba Tamang won the title of Best Walk and Beautiful Hair, Kabina Waiba Tamang won the title of Miss Personality, Pooja Jimba Tamang won the title of Miss Discipline, Sornima Thing Tamang won the title of Beautiful Hair and Best Smile.
The jury consisted of Sukhata Thing, Sheshraj Bhattarai, Lek Yonjan and Pradeep Bamjan.
