Artist Laxmi Bardeva has joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Laxmi's name is also in the list of 33 central members added to the RSSS on Sunday. Laxmi has entered active politics by joining the RSSS.
In an interview with Kantipur, she said that she is now equally active in politics along with the film industry. 'I have always been a supporter of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). But I did not enter politics with any plan. I was only proposed by the party a few days ago,' Lakshmi said.
Her name was initially recommended for proportional representation. But after the Kulman Ghising-led party also merged with the RSSS, Lakshmi's name was removed. After that, her name was proposed as a central member. She says that she will now take films and politics together.
She said that she has not made any plans to contest as a direct candidate in the February 21 House of Representatives elections. 'I do not know what will happen later. I have not made any plans yet. Even if I do not contest the elections, I will present my role strongly in the party,' she said.
Lakshmi is an established face in Nepali film and stage acting. The film 'Abhimanyu', in which she played the lead role, was released some time ago.
Lakshmi's strong acting in the film 'Bulbul' is still being praised. What will her presence in politics look like, who has presented herself powerfully even in supporting roles? 'I will put my issues firmly in the party. I will prioritize the issue of caste discrimination. I will try to clear the confusion and controversy in society regarding Dalit reservation,' she adds. 'I will also raise my voice about the presence of women in the film industry and the problems in that sector.'
Lakshmi is also active in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Singer Prakash Saput, singer Satyakala Rai, singer Trishala Gurung, artist Ashif Shah, actress Rima Bishwakarma and former Miss Nepal Anushka Shrestha were recommended by the RSSSP in proportional representation. Ashif Shah and Trishala Gurung have withdrawn their names after being criticized on social media.
