'Anjila' from Nepal recommended for Oscar award

The movie 'Anjila' is based on the biography of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, the goalkeeper of the Nepali women's football team. Actor Subba himself acted in the movie directed by Milan Chams.

The film 'Anjila' will represent Nepal at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar Award). The Nepal-based International Feature Film Selection Committee has informed that under the 98th 'Oscar Awards' to be held in the United States of America, the film 'Anjila' has been recommended from Nepal in the 'International Feature Film' category.

The chairman of the selection committee, Bimal Paudel, informed that the decision was made to represent 'Anjila', considering the content, artistry and the message given by the received films. He said,  "After a thorough evaluation of the film, we have selected the film keeping in mind the technical aspect, presentation of the story, emotional analysis of the character and artistic craft.

movie 'Anjila' is based on the biography of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, the goalkeeper of the Nepali women's football team. Milan Chams directed the movie starring Subba himself. The producer of the movie, Prem Kumar Shrestha, said that it is a matter of pride to represent Nepal with a movie made about athletes. 

'Nepal is making good progress in the game, that's why we have prepared a movie covering the biography and struggle of player Subba . It covers the story of struggle and success of female athletes along with the beauty of Nepal. It will also become an inspiration for others," said Shrestha, the producer. In the

movie 'Anjila', along with the player Subba, actors like Dayahang Rai, Srijana Subba, Maotse Gurung, Buddhi Tamang and others acted . According to the production side, the movie that was shown in Nepal last year managed to do business around 9 crore rupees.
