Melauli Municipality of Baitadi has declared two days of local public holiday. The municipality has announced that two days of local public holiday have been declared on the occasion of the Jatra (fair) to be held at Melauli Bhagwati Temple on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The municipality's mayor, Bhim Chand, said that all government offices, non-government offices, educational institutions under the municipality have public holidays. A festival is held at the Melauli Bhagwati Temple every year on the days of Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi and Purnima. In the local language, this festival is also called Dehi Jaant.

Jagadish Nayak, chairman of the Melauli Bhagwati Temple Service Committee, said that devotees from Darchula and Dadeldhura in Nepal as well as Luhaghat and Champawat on the border in India, come to the festival. A cow is sacrificed in this festival.
