A basic hospital has come into operation in Gulmidarbar Rural Municipality. A newly constructed 15-bed basic hospital has been put into operation under the government's 'One Municipality: One Basic Hospital' campaign.
Lumbini Province Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Dhanendra Karki inaugurated the basic hospital on Monday. Saroj Kumar Thapa, President of Gulmeedarbar Rural Municipality, said that the hospital has been made operational by arranging for 12 health workers including an MBBS doctor.
Gulmidarbar Basic Hospital was completed for the first time in the district 2 years ago. It is the responsibility of the local municipality to operate the construction hospital with a special grant from the federal government.
On June 15, 2078, Bikoi Arjun Newlija Gulmi was entrusted with the production. The construction of the municipal hospital was completed in June 2080. The municipal hospital building was built at a total cost of 120 million rupees. According to the standard of
hospital, there are 32 posts including 28 health workers with 3 MBBS and 4 office assistants. Saroj Kumar Thapa, chairman of the rural municipality, said that the local municipality is not in a position to run the hospital by appointing the posts according to the standards. "The hospital runs in the current situation," he said, "the municipality cannot run it by appointing new employees." At present, an MBBS doctor has been appointed in the hospital. The rest of the health workers were brought to the hospital from other local health posts. In the
hospital, beds, ECG machines, ultrasound machines, oxygen concentrator machines and other necessary equipment were arranged by the Lumbini state government. Inaugurating the newly constructed building of the
hospital, Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning of Lumbini Province Dhanendra Karki said that the local basic hospital will be included in the upcoming policies and programs. He said, "Medical workers who have studied MBBS on scholarship should come to the municipality for at least 2 years," he said.
