As the river erosion increased, the arable land turned into barren land. The settlements around the river were also at risk. Anticipating that the problem may increase, embankment construction work has been started in the storm drain of Syangja.

 

In order to control the river, the Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office Syangja has started the construction of embankment. 

In the financial year 2080/81, under the federal special grant (listed by the National Planning Commission), the Andhi Khola River Control Project was started from the same year to be implemented by the Gandaki Provincial Government. According to the division office, it was built on priority to the place that was damaged by the disaster. 

Water Resources and Irrigation Division Office Chief Kiran Acharya informed that the DPR cost of the project is 19 million 21 million. Although the office called for a contract of 15 crores, the contract was awarded for 10 and a half crores. Acharya said that the federal government has allocated a total of 6.5 million rupees this year. According to him, although the goal is to complete the construction work by 2083, it will be completed in 2082. currently  40 to 50 percent of the work has been completed.

Under this project, 1250 meters have been worked in Bhirkot, while 700 meters have been worked in Putlibazar and 9 hundred meters in Walling. Embankment construction work has been started under Andhikhola rural municipality, Bhirkot, Putlibazar and Walling municipalities. According to the division office, work is being done to bridge the river under Andhikhola rural municipality.

"During the rainy season, storms have damaged settlements, irrigated agricultural land and physical structures," said Engineer Acharya, "local residents have been bearing the brunt of the damage." The embankment work has been started in collaboration and cost sharing with the Irrigation Division Office and the Municipality.' In which, it was suggested to control the river by constructing earthen embankment, boulder stacking and gabion reuit in the storm for the storm control work . Previously, fish farming, vegetable farming and farm were being operated commercially. After the damage due to flood, now the land has become a landslide. 

Padam Gurung, Ward President of Walling-1, informed that as the land will be raised by the dam, it can be cultivated again commercially. "During rain, this place is at high risk," he said. He said that 35 hectares of land will be protected along with the settlement as the side is too big since the current dam construction is raising the land.

Similarly, in Bhirkot too, 200 ropani land has been protected, according to the office. With the implementation of the plan handed over from the federal government to the state government, Ward President Gurung said that there was a lot of land development in Walling that did not have red parts. He says that in the future, he is preparing to produce advanced varieties of seeds and re-program them professionally.
