Every year on the full moon day of Kartik, devotees from various districts of Nepal and India come to bathe at various ghats of Kamala, including Uttarvahini, Sarashwar, Chikna, Baniniya, Baspitta, Barerba, Phulbaria, Inarba.

Most of the devotees from far away had come and stayed on the river bank since yesterday evening to bathe in Kamala. It is believed that bathing in Kamala on Kartik Purnima will purify the soul.

After bathing in Kamala, people also take water from the river home when returning home. This water is sprinkled on the ground and worshipped.

Today, there is a tradition of Dhami-Jhankris worshiping ghosts and ancestral gods in Kamala. That is why it is also called a ghost fair.
