The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has appointed Kumar Karki as the president of the People of Nepali Origin (PNO).

NRNA President Hemraj Sharma gave Karki the responsibility from the 114th ICC meeting. Karki has been active in the PNO campaign for a long time. PNO is a campaign to connect Nepalis living in countries other than SAARC countries like Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Fiji and others as foreign citizens of Nepali origin to the NRNA.

PNO refers to Nepalis who left Nepal at a specific time and period. It is also the oldest diaspora society in Nepal. Their ancestors of Nepali origin had reached those countries during the First and Second World Wars in this way. At that time, there was no custom or practice of becoming a citizen and carrying it. This is why the NRNA itself started the PNO campaign after they were not able to get an NRNA identity card. He is the former president of the Thai Nepali Association. Karki has been active in this campaign since 2017.
