The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has granted amnesty to 267 Nepali prisoners on the occasion of the 54th National Day. The Government of Nepal has expressed its heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Government of the UAE for this.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday, stating that the general amnesty granted by the UAE government is an example of friendship, goodwill and humanitarian assistance in the bilateral relations between Nepal and the UAE.
According to the statement, the UAE government took this decision after repeated requests from the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi as per the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is stated that if there are no other legal cases or restrictions pending against the Nepali citizens who have been granted the general amnesty, they can return home after completing the necessary procedures as per the laws of the UAE.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Government of Nepal has been continuing its diplomatic initiatives on the issues of employment and rights of Nepali citizens residing in the UAE.
