A delegation led by Kenya's Honorary Consul to Nepal, Chandra Tandon, has been given a special welcome at the National Assembly of the Kenyan Parliament.
During the ceremony, the Speaker of the National Assembly respectfully greeted the delegation and expressed her confidence in further strengthening Nepal-Kenya bilateral relations. The honor has further raised the profile of the Consulate Office, which was formally inaugurated in June 2025—in the presence of high-ranking Kenyan officials. The public appreciation from the Parliament is said to be committed to fully utilizing the role of the Consul for the benefit of Nepal-Kenya.
‘The high-level recognition received by Chandra Tandon from the Kenyan Parliament, who has deep ties with Nepal’s business sector, not only recognizes his work, but also further strengthens Nepal-Kenya relations on the basis of bilateral cooperation and mutual development,’ the statement said.
On the occasion, Tandon said that he has taken important initiatives to open new market routes for Kenyan products, which has built a direct bridge between East African goods and the Nepali consumer market.
As a leading figure in Nepal’s remittance sector, he is playing a role in strengthening the relationship by providing effective consular services to the small but growing Kenyan community in Nepal.
The growing diplomatic engagement between Nairobi and Kathmandu has reached a new height, with the Parliament of the Republic of Kenya formally praising the remarkable contribution of Kenya's Honorary Consul to Nepal, Chandra Tandon, local media reported.
