Nepali student Manisha Dahal died on Sunday after being hit by a truck in Onju, South Korea.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Seoul, 22-year-old Dahal from Jhapa died after being hit by a truck while walking on the road. The process to send her body to Nepal has been initiated.

Dahal had gone to study at Far East University a year ago.

Parbati Moktan, president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, South Korea, said that the driver had already admitted to the mistake. “We have reached the spot for necessary legal and other assistance and discussed with the concerned bodies,” President Moktan told Ikantipur. “We will take the initiative to take legal action against the culprits and provide compensation to the victim.”

The Nepali Students’ Society (SONSIC) has expressed deep condolences to the family, saying that the news of Dahal’s death while he was studying higher education with the dream of a bright future is very saddening.
