Consumers will be able to buy full cylinders of cooking gas from today (Wednesday). Nepal Oil Corporation Limited issued a press release on Tuesday, stating that it will start selling the same 14.2 kg gas in the market from Wednesday.
As the Iran-US/Israel war intensified, the government had decided to sell half cylinders of gas (7.1 kg) from February 29 after a global petroleum crisis. The corporation had adopted a policy of selling and distributing half cylinders of gas with the aim of providing gas to everyone after consumers started hoarding gas unnaturally due to the uncertainty of the war. Although this policy of the corporation worked at that time to address consumer demand, now even when regular gas has started coming from India, people are demanding full cylinders of gas, saying that it is wrong to continue the half cylinder policy.
Since cylinders of both weights may be sold and distributed in the market until the 7.1 kg cylinder is completely replaced for some time, the corporation has urged consumers to purchase only after confirming the weight and price accordingly.
The Corporation says that attention has been paid to the improvement in the loading situation at various bottling plants and refineries of Indian Oil and the demand for filled cylinders from general consumers. The Corporation has stated that from Wednesday, the previous 14.2 kg gas will be filled across the country and sold and distributed at the full price of Rs 2,060.
