The price increase paid by consumers while purchasing goods and services has started to rise in recent months. According to the data of the National Bank, the average price increase till last Jestha was 5.22 percent. The price increase in the same period of this year is 2.5 percent higher than that in the same period of the previous fiscal year. In Jestha of the previous year, the price increase was 2.72 percent.

In the previous Jestha, the price increase in the food and beverage group was 4.95 percent and that in the non-food and service group was 5.37 percent. In Jestha 2082, the price increase in the food and beverage group was 0.54 and that in the non-food and service group was 3.94 percent.

The average price increase in the 11 months of the fiscal year 2082/83 is 2.89 percent. The average price increase in the same period of the previous year was 4.24 percent. The National Bank has stated that in Jestha 2083, the annual point consumer price index of the fruit subgroup under the food and beverage group increased by 17.40 percent, ghee and oil by 15.10 percent, fish and meat by 5.26 percent, and vegetables by 4.14 percent. However, the annual point consumer price index of the pulses and legumes subgroup decreased by 0.93 percent.

The annual point consumer price index of the miscellaneous goods and services subgroup under the non-food and service group increased by 16.68 percent, transportation by 15.31 percent, alcoholic beverages by 7.20 percent, education by 5.54 percent, and clothing and footwear by 5.53 percent.
