The Department of Transport Management has reduced the fares of inter-provincial public and freight vehicles by two percent effective from Thursday, with the price of petroleum products falling since midnight on Ashad 17.

The department issued a public notice on Thursday, reducing the fares of public transport and freight vehicles by two percent.

The department stated that the new fare adjustment was made according to the automatic system as the average price of diesel per liter was 235 rupees 83 paisas per liter during the last fare adjustment, and since Ashad 17, it has remained at 193 rupees 83 paisas per liter.

Earlier, the fares of public and freight vehicles had been increased by five percent as per the ministerial decision on Baisakh 12, 2083 BS.

Punya Prasad Sitaula, President of the Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs Federation, said that the department has reduced the fares of public transport and freight vehicles by two percent.
