Germany has expressed its commitment to further strengthen its development partnership with Nepal and announced that it will provide technical and financial assistance worth 37.6 million euros for the next two years.
The announcement was made during the bilateral talks on Nepal-Germany development cooperation held here on Tuesday. The two countries have agreed to prioritize energy, sustainable economic development and health sectors as key priorities for future cooperation, according to the German Embassy here.
The Nepali delegation was led by Dhaniram Sharma, Head of the International Financial Assistance Coordination Division of the Ministry of Finance, while the German delegation was led by Barbara Schaefer, Head of the South Asia Division of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The assistance will be used to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency, strengthen the electricity distribution system, develop green and resilient agriculture, improve the revenue sector, improve quality infrastructure, gender equality, sustainable economic development and expand financial access.
