The Finance Minister's Secretariat has expressed regret over the comments made by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle regarding the issue of electric vehicles (EVs) being checked through the Rasuwagadhi customs checkpoint.

A statement issued by the Finance Minister's Personal Under-Secretary and Public Relations Advisor Navin Dhungana stated that the investigation and investigation process is ongoing regarding the incidents related to the Korola checkpoints in Rasuwagadhi and Mustang.

According to the statement, based on the recommendation of an investigation committee formed by the Ministry of Finance, nine employees, including the Chief Customs Officer, were removed from their responsibilities on 20th Jestha and the Customs Department was pulled over for questioning regarding the vehicles that were checked through the Korola checkpoint before reaching the customs point. It is stated that further investigation is underway.

The statement also states that the ministry's investigation team is conducting an on-site investigation into the vehicles that were checked through the Korola checkpoint. It is said that a team comprising officials from the Ministry of Finance, Customs Department, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has been deployed for the investigation.

It is also stated that since the investigation is initially underway on the cars and the importing company that were seized on suspicion of customs fraud,  detailed details are yet to be released.

While the investigation is ongoing, serious attention has been drawn to the propaganda and media trials that have been carried out with the aim of assassinating the character of the Honorable Finance Minister and responsible officials of the ministry, establishing a wrong narrative in the society, and controversies over the budget. 

The process of legal redress has been initiated against some involved in the act, while legal redress is in the process of being sought against others. 

While forming opinions on issues related to the Finance Minister and the ministry, it has been requested to ask the responsible officials for the truth, to provide truthful information on technical issues such as the economy, budget, customs and their processes, or to make news items only after confirming the facts.
