Nepal's tourism sector welcomed 100,000 tourists in May 2026. This is nearly 20 percent more than the same month last year.

According to the latest data released by the Nepal Tourism Board and the Department of Immigration on Monday, international tourist arrivals have increased in May.

This is a 19.0% increase compared to May 2025 (86,216 arrivals). This is 31% more than before the COVID pandemic. In May 2019, 78,329 tourists arrived.

According to the Tourism Board, this confirms that the Nepali tourism sector is fully recovering from the impact of the pandemic and moving towards new heights.

India remains the largest contributor to Nepal's tourism sector, accounting for nearly 40% of the total arrivals.
